Shan Ali
CEO EMN (Express Media Network)
Insightful and determined, Shan has established himself as a successful role model within the South Asian community. With a Master’s degree, extensive creative writing skills and media planning experience, Shan is the CEO at Express Media Network (EMN); a leading Calgary-based production house. Under the auspices of EMN, Shan also publishes the weekly newspaper, Canadian Express, one of the largest publications of its kind for Canadians of South Asian origin. This cutting-edge broadsheet newspaper has left its indelible footprint in Canada from coast to coast.
Shan believes not only in the power of the written word, but also, in the effectiveness of the spoken word. Shan has been dabbling in radio for over 14 years and has been the driving force behind a number of very successful prime time shows on radio FM 100, Sunrise Radio London, WTOR 770 and FM 88.9 in Toronto. Currently, Shan engages South Asian Canadian listeners as producer and host of his popular ethnic show: SANGEET STUDIO, which airs weekly on Fairchild 94.7 FM.
MAHFOOZ KANWAR

Dr. Mahfooz Kanwar is a Professor Emeritus in
criminology and sociology at Mount Royal
College (Calgary, Alberta, Canada). He holds
a B.A. degree in Political Science, an M.A.
degree in Sociology, another M.A. degree in
Sociology/Criminology, and a Ph.D. degree in
Criminology.
He has conducted research and published
extensively in the sociological fields of
marriage and the family, religion, crime, and
social problems. He has published eight
books, five monographs, and more than 100
academic and non-academic articles.
Rakshi

Rakhshi is the driving force behind EMN’s
marketing success. Rakshi has taken the
outlook of EMN brand to new levels. With
dynamic sales and marketing skills, she
designs media campaigns for Canadian Express,
Sangeet Studio and for our valued clients.
Mohsin Abbass
(Bureau Chief – Victoria – Vancouver)
Mohsin Abbass, an award winning reporter,
filmmaker, blogger and press freedom activist
has worked for Hamilton Spectator, DW radio,
Toronto Star, The Globe, Daily Herald, CBC
(fifth estate), BBC etc.
He spent the last 14 years of his career
working as a journalist on South Asian
issues, such as human rights, gender, freedom
of expression and child labour. As Pakistani
and South Asian analyst, he has appears on
CBC radio and Television, Radio Canada
International, BBC, CTV, Sun TV Global
national shows and various others.
Mubeen Ahmed
(Bureau Chief – Edmonton)
Seasoned columnist and media photographer
Mubeen was born with talent in journalism. He
started his career as a free lance journalist
with one of the local newspaper and soon
proved his metal in reporting and
photography. Since his arrival in Canada he
got involved with local community newspaper
and south radio show in Edmonton. Mubeen is
making sure that Canadian Express maintains
its household name in south Asian Canadians
in Edmonton and area.
Erin Dueck

Erin believes that “Calgary is what happens when the world’s best people decide to put up with each other.”
A Mount Royal University English major, Erin grew up riding horses and all-terrain-vehicles on a small farm in the hills of Northern Alberta.
Throughout the winter, Erin vows to only go swimming on the $2 nights at the Northeast Village Square Leisure Centre and to never road-rage... more than two or three times a week.

While music is her number one joy, Sangeeta also values writing and sharing information with others.
